Using lattice as deck skirting is only the beginning! Here are our 5 favorite uses of vinyl lattice inside and outside your home.
There are a number of creative ways to use decorative vinyl lattice panels around your home, and we’re here to share some of our favorite ideas!
1. Deck Skirting
The most common way you’ll see lattice used is installed as “skirting” underneath decks. The lattice offers an aesthetically pleasing, affordable way to enclose the underside of the deck. This enables adequate air flow and also helps prevent critters from getting underneath your house. Vinyl deck skirting also creates a storage area that is out of view. While deck skirting is a very popular use of vinyl lattice, it is far from the only use and definitely not the most creative!
2. Pergolas & Arbors
Add a little whimsy and comfort to your backyard with a pergola or an arbor accented with vinyl lattice for long-lasting enjoyment. Pergolas can even be topped by vinyl lattice panels to act as a ceiling that creates shade. You can even add a clear composite top (like our friends at BHD Construction specialize in to keep out the rain.
3. Privacy Fences
Robert Frost told us that “good fences make good neighbors” in his 1914 poem “Mending Wall” and boy was he right. A bit of added privacy that a fence provides can make all the difference in the world when it comes to creating a space for you and your family that’s separate from your neighbors. Vinyl lattice fences and paneled walls add a sense of space, privacy, and intimacy to an area that would otherwise feel open and vulnerable— all while maintaining a lightness and flow that a big wood fence or similar can’t provide.
4. Railings
Adding decorative lattice panels below railings adds privacy, elegance, and security. Though not designed to be weight-bearing (that’s what vertical balusters are for), vinyl panels help keep children and animals from poking arms, legs, and heads through a railing. Meanwhile, additional privacy can be achieved. This also works inside, as well, such as along staircases railings. Wherever you have railings, whether on your deck or in your house, choosing a vinyl lattice design that suits your tastes and needs is sure to add a great deal of polish and sophistication to your home.
5. Spacemaking Screens
Last but not least, perhaps the poshest of our suggestions: use decorative vinyl lattice to create new and enchanting spaces. We refer to this in the industry as “spacemaking,” or the use of innovative materials to create new areas with unique intent that meet the needs of you and your family. Using decorative lattice for creating space is easy, affordable, and stylish, and is extremely popular trend given how lattice panels break up rooms without totally cutting them off from one another. These panels can be installed as walls, hung from ceilings, or attached to walls to create texture and interest.
