Kay Volmar, a lifelong New Yorker, fell in love with a 1912 cottage in Mt. Dora, FL, and bought it sight unseen.
As she tackled each DIY challenge, she built up a large 100k+ following on Instagram under the name @onceupona1912, where she shares her progress with fans. Along the way, she garnered attention from Business Insider, Southern Living, and others.

“I’ve been tolerating looking at the underside of my deck for almost a decade. 🙈 It bugged me every time I went into the backyard. I started searching for ways to pretty it up and voila, the gorgeous options from @acuriolatticeworks appeared. This skirting literally makes me so happy! The quality is awesome, it’s vinyl so yeah, maintenance free and the adorable floral motif adds the perfect amount of cottage charm. What’s not to love?”
